The Sunrise Project held its second ITS User Forum on 6th June in Dublin in the framework of the ITS Europe Congress.
The workshop gathered about 20 ITS experts who had previously registered as members of the User Forum.
The main objective of this second meeting was to consolidate the open issues identified during the first workshop held in London and thanks to the questionnaire that was sent out to all the User Forum members and to other ITS experts. Furthermore the second workshop has been the occasion to draft the first recommendations which will be part of the Action Plan to deliver to GSA as the main SUNRISE project outcome.
The workshop was opened by the ERF, the ITS User Forum secretariat, who recalled the main objectives of the SUNRISE project and of the second workshop. During the morning session a set of overview presentations has been given by the user forum members on the following themes: transport policy links to ITS GNSS, standardisation and EGNOS. The morning session was completed by a presentation delivered by Mr Alberto Fernandez-Wyttenbach on behalf of the GSA concerning the status of Galileo and EGNOS and the GNSS R&D activities funded under Horizon 2020, which is the new financial instrument combining the research and innovation funding currently provided through FP7.
In the afternoon the round table sessions took place. It has been organised 3 round tables on the following themes: technical aspects, standardisation, certification & testing and the last one was mainly focused on business topics. During the round table sessions the participants were really active in the discussions thanks to some pitching presentations delivered by experts which main aim was to stimulate the discussions in order to produce recommendations and inputs to be delivered to GSA.
The successful workshop was closed by the ERF representative, Concetta Durso who announced the details of the next ITS User Forum that will take place in Brussels in November.
